Infinity requires the runes Ber (x2), Mal, and Ist, which you will acquire through farming or trading. It can range from 1-3, but hold out for a +3 on this expensive Runeword.Īll Socketed Base Items for Runewords Polearm Socketed Base Items for Runewords The only place you can farm these is Treasure Level 85 areas.įor Spears, you'll mostly be using these with Amazon builds such as a Fend or Charged Strike build, so you'll want a Matriarchal Spear or Matriarchal Pike base item with +3 to Javelin and Spear Skills. They also are quality level 85, meaning that these are too high to be farmed in the Hell Secret Cow Level. The highest level Polearm, Giant Threshers, have a minimum level of 66, three levels above the Runeword. This means you could take an unsocketed Normal version of these to Larzuk and be guaranteed the correct number of sockets. The Voulge, Bill, and Colossus Voulge are all slower than the Scythes, but they have a maximum number of 4 sockets. Always double check the item's Strength and Dexterity requirements before making the Runeword you don't want to make one your Mercenary is not strong enough to wield. The fastest Polearms are the various Scythes: Scythe and War Scythe (Normal), Battle Scythe and Grim Scythe (Exceptional), and Thresher and Giant Thresher (Elite). The only Polearms you can't use are the Normal, Elite, and Exceptional versions of the Bardiche (Bardiche, Lochabar Axe, and Ogre Axe), as these only have a maximum of 3 sockets. ![]() On the other hand, if you are using this for an Amazon spear, do not make the same mistake in reverse and use a Polearm. Make sure to check the weapon type carefully you can also use the Polearm Base Items guide below to double-check. Spears: Matriarchal Spear, Matriarchal Pikeīe careful when choosing base items for the Mercenary polearm: do NOT use a Spear by mistake.Polearms: 4-socketed Scythes (watch the Strength and Dexterity requirements).Elemental-based classes that would benefit from Infinity will probably want one of the defensive auras (Defiance or Prayer) rather than Might, which focuses on boosting Physical damage. Only the Act II Desert Wolf Mercenary can wield a Polearm, so it's the only choice to bear Infinity for you. And who can object to an extra 30% better chance of getting magic items? The Cyclone Armor clickable is also very interesting. The 40% Crushing Blow is also pretty amazing, as is the Prevent Monster Heal. This is a great Runeword for a Charged Strike/Lightning Strike Spearazon, since it gives -45-55 Enemy Lightning Resist and the Conviction aura. This next section will discuss what classes and specs can make the most out of Infinity, whether you should consider using Infinity with your Mercenary follower, what base items to consider, and where to acquire Runes.īest Classes and Specs for the Infinity Runeword Runewords vary on their suitability for different classes and specs, as well as utility for the various Mercenaries. Two Ber runes makes this item very expensive, and requires most players to make a hard choice between this or making Enigma. Any class that would love to have the Conviction aura will not be using a Polearm as their main weapon, so it is almost never carried by player characters. ![]() For this reason, classes and specs with a heavy emphasis on Elemental-based attacks love Infinity - for their Mercenaries, not for themselves. The extreme popularity of the Infinity runeword is due to the Level 12 Conviction aura it emanates, which reduces resistances and breaks Fire, Cold, and Lightning immunities (Conviction does nothing for Poison, Magic, or Physical). 50% Chance To Cast Level 20 Chain Lightning When You Kill An EnemyĠ.5-49.5 To Vitality (Based on Character Level)
